Glasgow School of Yarn Fiber Festival 2024

I had SUCH a good time at the Glasgow School of Yarn fiber festival while I was in Scotland this month. I have followed GSoY on Instagram for a while but didn’t know about the festival when we booked our trip, so I was delightfully surprised when I began looking at yarn shops in Glasgow that I might want to visit. We don’t have a local yarn shop here in Fresno, and the closest one is probably a 2 hour drive, so going to a city with actual yarn shops sounded very exciting. It didn’t take much time for me to see that GSoY was having their annual fiber festival on the last weekend of our trip, so I bought a ticket to attend the Sunday. A good friend of mine also gifted me the fee for a beginner’s drop spindle class, so I got to do that as well! I really enjoyed the event, the vendors were AMAZING and the yarn selection was out of this world. While I don’t have photos of the yarns I bought yet, I do have a few photos from the venue. It was held in the Trades Hall in Glasgow, not far from George Square in the City Centre (which was beautiful). The Trades Hall was beautiful in its own right, with artwork depicting the various trade organizations of the city. It was just a wonderful time, and although I need a bit more practice in regards to spinning, I learned a lot in the class I took and feel like I have a grip on how to keep at it.
