Scotland vacation update

Hello! It seems that every time I mean to sit down and write an update I find that I either don’t have the time to dedicate to writing out a full post, or that I am too scatterbrained to get anything down that makes sense. As many of you know, Dan and I booked a trip to his hometown of Glasgow a couple months ago after finally getting permission from US Immigration to travel out of the States (or, more importantly, get back in). He’s been away from Scotland for almost three years, and I’ve never been, so this trip has been absolutely amazing on every level. Here are a few photos of what I’ve been up to so far, and I’ll update with more in-depth photos and dialogue when I’m back home in California and have time to edit our photos into some cohesive timelines.

Cathedral ruins at St. Andrews
Cute little mushroom family at Maxwell Park in Glasgow
The statue of the Duke of Wellington, properly dressed for my visit.
Beautiful day at Lock Lomond.
Dan and I posed with a few Highland Cows in Pollock Park.
A little cafe knitting on a test knit for Pacific Knit Co’s new Botanical Doodle Deck.
Beautiful fall scene in Pollock Park on the walk back “home.”

So, those are a few of the photos I’ve taken while out and about, and I have many more where they came from. I’ll be working on editing them in the next few days.

Tomorrow is an exciting day for me, as I have a ticket to the Glasgow School of Yarn’s annual Fiber Festival at the Glasgow Trades Hall. I’ll take a train into the City Centre in the morning and have a chance to look through all the vendor booths and chat with other makers at the event. Dan will meet up with me for some lunch, and then I’ll head back in for a drop spindle class I have tickets for in the afternoon. As someone who doesn’t live near a local yarn shop, I am so excited to see the vast selection of yarns and notions that will be there, as well as learning a bit about how fiber is spun. I look forward to making a post about my day and reflecting on the experience that I have been looking forward to for the past month!
