Website traffic and updates

Well, it’s another Monday, and it’s finally October! While I do love the summer, there’s always something refreshing about the cooler weather settling in, especially getting to sleep with the windows open and feeling the slight breeze in the evening. Our summers are hot, as Fresno is in a desert, so the cooler weather is a nice change after months of 100°F (38°C) and above. My partner has especially been loving the cooler weather, getting to work more in the yard. Yesterday he prepped one corner of the backyard so that he can plant our fig tree as well as an olive tree back there. Once those are in we’ll also pepper a few rosemary plants around them, and maybe some lavender. It’s exciting to see our backyard transform as we save the money to make changes here and there. I struggle to know whether or not to put in updates that aren’t crafting related, but I do love our garden and talking about it.

So…website traffic! This site is built through GoDaddy, and the blog is created through WordPress in conjunction with GoDaddy, and one of the things my dashboard shows is the amount of traffic coming to this site, and in the last month it has really taken off (so if you’ve shared it with friends, thank you!). Every day that I check there are more and more hits to it, which is exciting, especially since blogging isn’t as popular any longer, at least nothing like it was back in the early 2000s. I find though, that I really love writing, as well as reading other blogs, so I will keep at it regardless of traffic. One of the things I wanted to do was create an anonymous “ask me anything” form so that readers could pop a question my way that I can then answer in a blog post, without the need to comment on something, as I have noticed that the readership is exponentially higher than comments left on my posts. I often find myself reading others’ blog posts and not commenting myself, similarly to watching a YouTube and not feeling the need to chime in, but be happy just taking in parts of someone else’s creative journey. I have been making a list of post ideas to share and will be sticking with more of a regimented posting schedule in the next couple of weeks, after I finish some of the site improvements, so if there are suggestions you have for posts, please let me know!

Lastly, here’s an update on my spinning. If you look (not-so-close) you’ll see mistakes, which is fine, I am still a beginner, but my consistency is getting better. The fiber I’m using here is a braid of Malabrigo Nube that I picked up a little while ago, I don’t remember right now what the colorway is. I will soon be putting on a fresh bobbin and getting it done enough so that I can practice plying them together. I have never plied before, but I’m sure I can find some tutorials on YT that can get me going in the right direction.
